The transition years spanning fifth grade to high school involve many physical and social changes. At Endeavor Academy, we want to make this transition as uncomplicated as possible. Some ways in which we address this are through our fifth grade transition program; team camp for grades 5 and 6; curriculum adapted to the changing intellectual needs and responsibilities of each grade level; positive social activities; team sports (competing with other NHA schools); high school and college preparation; welcoming representatives of area high schools to meet with prospective students; and an alumni scholarship ($1,000) for former Endeavor Academy students who are now in high school.
Endeavor Academy offers an accelerated learner program for high achieving middle school students who need an extra challenge. Students who are eligible for this program are identified through referrals, grades and test scores. The program’s curriculum is serviced in partnership with the College of William and Mary and includes science, history and some literature.
The middle school curriculum and extra-curricular activities:
- Core Classes — 62 minutes each of Math, Science, Writing, Reading and History/Geography
- Exploratory Classes — Art, Music, Physical Education, Computers/Research, Leadership/Service
- Pre-Algebra/Algebra and Geometry for advanced math students
- Band
- Accelerated Learner Program
- National Junior Honor Society
- Community Service Programs
